    Default What's reasonable price to change front rake pads?

    **CORRECTION: Sorry, this quote was for pads AND disks. My bad. Please ignore.**

    Will ask moderators to delete thread.

    ================================================== ==================
    Hi All,

    I bought a Wrangler 04 a couple of months ago and just took it for a service. The mechanic suggested that I change the brake pads on the front wheels as they only have 2-3mm left on them.

    The quote he gave me is $445 for replacing just the pads on front wheels.

    Is it a reasonable price or am I being ripped off?

    Thanks,

    A.

    There are heaps of them on ebay (au) for around $70. It's not hard to change them yourself. Jeep parts are notoriously expensive through Jeep Parts Departments at dealerships. Do as much as you can yourself.

    Thanks a lot for the reply.

    There are two problems to this:

    1. I don't have a garage and proper tools
    2. I'm a bit clueless about car mechanics (embarrassingly)

    But I get from your comments that I'm being ripped off a bit.

    This is what's involved - http://www.jeepz.com/forum/brakes/33...ad-change.html

    So either they are selling you an extremely expensive set of pads, or an outrageous amount of labour.
