Hey guys. Just a heads up that the new clean up date for Appin has been set at 19th of November. I will post more details here soon.
Check out the link for the work group.
http://www.abug.com.au/abug/default.asp
Please register interest here. We need to get people on board.
I might be able to get there for the afternoon but can't be there in the morning.
Interested. Should have the TJ back up and running or the XJ more modded by then.

Hi all, I went to the abug get together last saterday. We put in $70.00 dollars in to the fund . Hope this number grows by the clean up. How many Sydney club rigs are going? Im out all the time and have only meet one of the jeep guys, thats steve. Hes keen as. So lets see you guys out using those nice and clean rigs. Come on go the jeeps
hey Appin is my end of town
and Appin Pub is a great place to sit and have a drink afterwards
so I will be there with my boots on
bernie
only if my truck is fit and fighting.
I'm in for sure!!
We need to keep this place open. :D
Hi all, I'm new to the club and real keen to go on this trip, is there a procedure that needs to be followed to signup? Is there someone that I need to contact or is it all done on the day?
my trannie is r00ted but i will flat tow it home if need be, so i am in.
Can we can some answers to the following questions
1) Does anyone intending to go have a first aid cert (mine lapsed last year)
2) I have 1 fire ext we need confirmation of another
3) Does anyone attending have a GPS (Hazards are marked by GPS)
4) I said at the last meeting i would be happy to lead it, anyone else want to?
5) While the ABUG site mentions meeting in ingleburn no location has been provided, where is the meet point?
6) Have we confirmed our attendence with the ABUG guys?
my rig won't be ready in time and the other two aren't up to the trails so I'm out.
Well I cannot risk anything breaking with the TJ build going on.
think the head count is the important part, not the truck count ;)

Warren...i would love you to lead it if able. I feel there is no point in me running round with it all if i can't even make it.
I sent ABUG an email two months ago (maybe longer) saying we were keen. We do need to re confirm i believe. With numbers etc.
Meeting place is at a 4x4 shop in Ingleburn. If you email the link on OL they will probably give you an address.
Brad, there are lots of C grade tracks around there too. I told them months ago that we'd have locked rigs on 35's down to stockers and they said they will accomodate.
I'll be in for this one ... just let me know where I need to be and at what time.
As for the questions;
1. I have a Senior First Aider cert. (St. Johns)
2. Don't leave home without an extinguisher
3. Again, don't leave home without the GPS
4. Lead away
5. This bit is important :)
6. Lalalalalala
OK HEAR ALL HEAR ALL
Meet time is 7:30AM on SUNDAY 19/11/06
MY4x4 - 1/33 Stanley Rd Ingleburn NSW 2565
As i have been sucked in as trip lead you can call me on 0419 633 251 if you are running late or having trouble locating it :)
Can each member confirm they are attending.
Basic rules apply for this trip, UHF radio, recovery points & gear.

Made an error with the meet point (they have moved to a new address which i provided) the old address for the shop is where the meet point is, which is 1/33 Stanley Rd Ingleburn NSW 2565. My partner will be at the Minto address until 7:30am incase anyone goes there. Sorry for the confusion!
anyone else wanna come?!?!?
Appin is really worth fighting for guys, it is getting great media coverage and will be a good day out. Dust off the dash and opt in for this one!! :)
Normally I'd be a a sure starter for this one but the TJ is stripped and getting prepped for Woodpecker. Just not enough time between events..
i forgive you Jumbo, but only this time
Come on guys, last chance to opt in for this one, and a chance to get your truck on 4wdtv
Let's see if you still forgive me on the following Sunday morning @ Dargle...
to avoid any further confusion, as i have had a few calls, the ingleburn address i provided is the correct meet point, i removed the incorrect address to avoid confusion, insted i created it :)
We will have people at both addresses so no-one will get lost :)
Let's see if you still forgive me on the following Sunday morning @ Dargle...
can live with flopping, might be a bit pissed with a full roll over

So a succesful day?
So a succesful day?
to tired yesterday for a trip report. Will do it today :)
But it was a great day, with a great turnout and at the end of it appin looked much cleaner then i can ever remember it :)
Attending members met at MY4x4 located at ingleburn. We all signed in and had a chat for awhile while we waited for the ABUG crew to give us a run down on the plan for the day and a little OH&S talk.

Left MY4x4 in a massive convoy, but we had a few members that needed to stop off at the service station and utilise the facilities. After the servo it was straight out onto the freeway to head up to Appin in our own group.
Arrived at Appin via the coal road, ABUG had arranged access via the locked gate for the day which prevented bottle necks on the main access track which was a great thing and also made it easier for the stockers. The convoy was airing down at prepping on the coal road so we rolled up and aired down and had a chat while we waited for the convoy to move again.

We got assigned a cleanup area which was from pit 3 to the airport gate on the coal road and from the coal road down to and across to the first inland tracks. We collected about 8 garbage bags of litter, we found allot of metal sheeting, old fencing and parts of cars which amounted to a rater decent looking pile (which no-one took a picture of). We also found some asbestos and marked it with the GPS and advised ABUG of it's location.
when we finshed our assigned area, we then went looking for rubish basicly along the north/nort east border and down to the creek and had a bit of a play around on the way back up from the creek (while still on the prowl for rubish). No-one sustained any damage and simles all around when we got back to pit 2 to drop off the rubish. We called it a day at this point at about 1:30PM.

Myself and BJ and company headed off to the Appin pub following the mines fence line down to the main track to keep out of the way of traffic and then down the usual main track and down to the creek before comming out at the bridge. Had some awsome grub and went to the servo where we aired up.

I would like to thank all the SJC members that attended on the day and helped the ABUG cause. Appin is a great area and our efforts along with the efforts of everyone else involved will help ensure that future access to the area is possible.

Note Warrens' diligent search for rubbish as he climbs over yet another rock ledge in prep for the Woodpecker 8)
just a quick post to say I had an excellent time
and thankyou to Warren for being so 'you can do it bernie'
and then watching and guiding while I did
and Rupert who gave me the best tip
when I decided I didn't like the look of either the left
or the right hand track at once stage
and then I his voice over the radio
'so just shut your eyes and go straight up the middle'
it was totally awesome - even my girlfriend who came with me and
who was worried about toilet breaks in the bush
said lets do it again
cool stuff
thankyou to all who attended - you really gave me a lot of confidence
and a special thankyou to Kath
who when ever she got out of the car with the camera
I just knew this was not going to be an easy bit
but luckily my Jeep thought it was
Warren I hope you fixed the leak
