View Full Version : Baal Bone Saturday 30/3 scenic C-C+
Come join on us on one of the sjc’s iconic picturesque day trips...this is a great opportunity for members who wish to try the next level with 2 pinch points well suited for stock wranglers or trail hawks with some mods...
Also a good introduction for new club members or visitors providing you have basic front/rear recovery points/gear.
**Forgot to mention Radio required either built in or hand held for convoy procedures**
NOTE possible scratching or damage may occur as we are going off road...!
Requirements
Food and drink for the day, recovery gear, front /rear recovery points, camera, sunscreen and other picnic requirements...
This trip is limited to 20 members and 2 visitors
Meet 9am for 9.30 departure
Zig zag railway car park off bells line of road.
Note phone signal can be low
Seems like we are full already...can stretch to a couple more or perhaps we can split the group in 2... any takers to head up a 2nd group behind us? Good opportunity for a member with driving experience to take on their first as trip leader ....
Great news - Adrian will lead a second group behind so now we can set the limit to 20!

I did the C-C+ Grease Monkey run in my WJ Grand Cherokee with 2" lift. With that, rock-sliders, and new 30.5" AT tyres, is Baal Bone realistic for the WJ Grand? Any thoughts from other members who know this track? Would love to join you for this. The rock step looks a good challenge.

I've done Baal Bone twice in my stock Trailhawk, and I was fine both times apart from some plastic damage - and even that's due to me being too trigger-happy, just take it easy on way up to the first big step
Hi Jeep muggle
Your wj will have no problems completing this track.
Look forward to seeing you on the 30th.

Hey Ben
Moffits trail will be the way out.
We start at the railway and go all the way up and over.
With a off shoot to a great lookout point most drivers miss.
John.

Is that the left hand turn , after you have climbed the slab John ?
Left hand turn and down a little track. Not the big open area. But we will be going down the slab (so right hand turn)

Hi Di
Just as we thought we'd be introducing the JK to some dirt, it's still in some pieces being built. Amy also has a major uni assignment due so we're going to have to pull out of this one :(
Very sorry to miss everyone, but we'll see you at Easter :)
Cheers, Ben

Hi Guys,
Can you please let me know where is the meeting point, the Zig Zag car park is the one near the Bell Station?. I did google it but not sure about the exact location.
Also, is this a trip day only? Or is anyone camping around after the track?
Cheers!
Simon
Clarence railway Chifley rd bell off bells line of Rd is the way to zigzag railway meeting point in the car park by car.
It’s very well signposted
This trip is just scheduled for the day
We are running an Easter weekend camp trip for those not going to QLD for Jambo....also listed on the sjc website calendar for April.

Hi All, just to make sure I end up at the right location :smile-new: can anyone provide a maps ref point for the meeting place?
Thanks

Hi piero
My skills suck
If you travel along bells line of rd from Richmond through kurrajong it becomes Chifley rd at Clarence you’ll see signs posted very clearly for zig zag railway
Very iconic location gps will get you there it’s approximately 1 hr from Richmond
If still not sure meet up at Richmond MacDonalds by 7.30
Cheers Di

Thanks Di and John for a really great day yesterday. Lots of new people to meet, and an enjoyable way to hang out on a Saturday. Great planning by Di and John, very much appreciated.
Big shout out to Steve T for fearless spotting by the tree at the bottom of the rock, and for getting everyone down safely. More big shout outs to John for spotting throughout the day and supporting everyone, as well as Adrian for coleading and great support, and Ben for helping out.
Trail repairs for Adrian when a spring dropped out, and for Liam when sway bar link needed some cable ties.
Enjoyed meeting everyone and thank you all for an awesome day.

Thanks Di & John for a great day. 62JEEP limped home safely to Sydney with damage to the front drive-shaft front CV joint. Replacement ordered and car usable in the meantime. Looking forward to more trips like this - hopefully I'll be able to finish the next one!
Now, off to find a locking front diff!
