can anyone help me with abs question?

can someone help me? I have a 96 model and the abs light has appeared on the dash.The guys at jeep ballina say that the computer says rear valve problem, apparently you have to buy the whole module( $5,000) I was in disbelief. One of the guys told me that often with these modules and also volvos, the solder on the wiring can become dry and cause this problem, therefore to have it re-soldered probably would work. Anyone able to help?

Can't help you specifically with the Jeep ABS prob however I just bought myself a new Jeep because of an existing ABS problem with a VW Pasat - was quoted a similar amount to replace it.

However I subsequently discovered that the Passat ABS could be repaired by a firm in WA. I opted for this with total cost including shipping of parts, install & testing was $1,200. I now have 3 cars...

It took me 2 months to solve the problem though so it pays to do some research.
