Hi, I have just joined the forum & hoping to get a steer in the right direction from the wise ones.
I bought an 07 JKU CRD 5 months ago, she's done 110k km & I love driving it but have run into a problem that I am struggling with.

At Christmas time I started intermittently seeing the check engine light with the following fault cods:
-P0193 (fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high input)
-P0088 (fuel rail/ system pressure too high)

The car would go into limp mode but if I drive for 5-10 minutes and restart full power returns (usually the light remains on but sometimes it clears)
This would happen 1 or 2 days a week. Several times the light has come on as I drove over a speed bump or dip in the road (coincidence or just a loose connection somewhere?)

My mechanic sought advice from Jeep (he used to work there) they suggested replace the fuel rail (sensor & rail supplied as 1 unit, you know the drill). Potentially it could also be a fuel pump issue.
We replaced the fuel rail with one from a wrecker (35000km) and it drove well for a week, then the same issue for a day, drive well for a week, same issue for a couple days etc. He was good enough to not charge me for the replacement fuel rail since it hasn't fixed my problem.

On 3 occasions over the last 3 months it has also cut out after setting off from a start, on these occasions the symptoms were like a flooded engine, wait a few minutes then restart and go.

So, I am looking for a diesel / Jeep gooru to get in there & advise me. It might just be a fuel pump pressure test, but who knows.

Can anyone recommend a Jeep or Diesel specialist for me? I am located on the Northern Beaches, I work in Brookvale (so anyone in Brooky would be great)

Thanks guys,

John

There are a few gurus on ausjeepoffroad. Try there if no luck here

Yes, ausjeepoffroad forum is a good place to start.
Quite a few knowledgable guys on there, including a few current/ex Jeep mechanics.

Otherwise I'd suggest speaking to some of the Jeep specialists who service jeeps. None on the northern beaches as far as I know though. Shents up at Wyong have been doing my servicing (JK CRD) and know their way around the JK's. Otherwise ATV at Five Dock have a good reputation, though I've never used them.

If you want someone closer to home then maybe try Tyre Power/British & Swedish Motors in Narrabeen. When I lived on the northern beaches I used to get mine serviced there. They're a good bunch of lads who know their way around 4WD's (more specifically Land Rovers/Range Rovers) who didn't turn their nose up at Jeeps like some do. Might be worth speaking to them if it's mechanical as they seem to be good mechanics, but if it's electrical (i.e. something to do the ECU/sensors) the someone who knows the Jeep systems might be better. There is also Mitchell Bros is Brookvale who are apparently specialising more in Jeeps these days as well but I never had much joy with them.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I have Mitchell Bros. rooting around under the hood. They came back promptly having found oil in the wiring loom...chasing the source, fingers crossed.
