I'm out for this one. I go in on Friday 14th for surgery on both knees, so won't be mobile for the Sunday.

I have GPX maps of a number of tracks out from Rydal if anyone needs them.

Please put me down as a 'quite possible' to help out with the clean up as I will most probably be spending valentines evening in Bathurst getting drunk & watching Dexter with an accomplice

*edit* Of course I wouldn't be meeting up @ Richmond maccas, but will hook around to the showground on the way hehe

Do we have a wet weather plan???

DanD
12-02-14, 07:11 PM
Whats the plan in general actually? As mentioned, I will be coming from Bathurst that morning - meet you @ Rydal showground at about 9am? I'm not able to have fun on the trails (self & financially imposed 'no fun things for a while') but want to help out with the clean up

Hi Dan, yes the plan is to pull the old tyres out of the area we used as a test track and take them to a local tip. Do you know the area in question? If so we'll see you there around 9:00.
After the clean up we'll probably do an easy run out towards Mt Walker depending on weather conditions.
I'm unsure as to the number of tyres but will be taking a trailer to cart the em to the tip

Sounds good, I'll hang out by the coal pit if I get there before 9am - otherwise, i'll look for all of the other jeeps in the showgrounds :D

All attendees please bring work gloves, sturdy shoes and preferably long pants in case of spiders or snakes

Does anyone remember the address of the local tip?

I'm in, see you tomorrow, did someone check to see if the waste site accepts waste tyres? And how many they will take? Oh, and how much they charge? http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/askenvironmentlineapp/question.aspx?qaId=AEL-105

As far as I know the transfer station I was planning to use is free

Rob.79

They may take then all without issue, but I think they would only take a few tyres, they might accept half a dozen, but tyre disposal is costly, and they would have every farmer, tyre shop and garage in the area dumping tyres? I'm not sure how much my company pays, we have a contract with our tyre supplier, they collect the used ones, for recycling, retreads etc. I'm guessing it could be around a few dollars per tyre? Being 'in the trade' Wooders may know?

Local waste site charges, eg. http://m.kimbriki.com/fees-charges-domestic-non-resident.html. Max 5 tyres @ $10 each?

To the best of my knowledge "Kimbriki" is at Terry Hills, which is a long way from Rydal.

Fire and petrol can make things go away :hopelessness:

Wolfe

I'm thinking if we can explain to council that we are cleaning (greening) an area we may be able to dump for free. This however would require postponing the cleanup till I can find out. Also weather isn't the best. Please let me know tonight.

Rob And Handbrake please let me know you've read this, as due to weather and dumping costs etc the Rydal run will be postoned.

Rob.79
15-02-14, 10:05 PM
Yes Wolfe I have just read this, not a problem, we could have still gone and had a tidy up? If the mess is bad? Clear the track, make a big neat pile of tyres? Sorry Bear, 'kimbriki' was just an example, I couldn't find any info on the waste site near Rydal, General waste/rubbish is usually free and easy to dispose of, Tyres are a pain!
