The grading is explained in the Welcome information you receive when you join the Club, however here it is for those that missed it.

General Club Trip Information

Trip Grades
A Grade – very difficult
• Steep and difficult terrain.
• Serious rock ledges, deep mud and/or water crossings.
• Recovery equipment is required. Winching may be required.
• Not suitable for standard vehicles – recommended high clearance, at least one locking differential and/or winch.
• Drivers must be very experienced.
• Damage is a possibility.

B Grade – very challenging
• Challenging and exciting terrain.
• Recovery is possibly required but not always necessary.
• Suitable for non-standard vehicles.
• Damage is possible, but less likely.

C Grade – easy but challenging
• Medium to easy terrain.
• Alternative routes usually available around obstacles.
• Suitable for standard vehicles.
• Damage is not likely.

D Grade – easy and pleasurable
• Easy terrain, in fact you probably won’t even need 4WD.
• Mostly touring and site-seeing trips (including drive-in nights!).
• Suitable for standard vehicles.

Competition
• Well its competition!
• Competition grading will vary in accordance with the organisers’ intent.
• Some competitions cater for standard vehicles while others are exclusively hardcore.
• Members entering competitions do so at their own discretion and should consider their own experience levels and that most insurance companies do not cover these types of events.

Note on all trip grades: To provide a more precise grading scale, grades will often be supplemented by +/- to reflect higher or lower level of difficulty.
