The US military want to extend their training grounds.

Although few of us will get to wheel there, check it out and sign up.
Some videos on youtube about the history and importance to the local economy and the importance to aftermarket developers.

This is an extremely important issue for the Americans, their Blue ribbon coalition works very hard to keep the tracks open to all. I can hear many members saying yes, good on them fighting the man, sticking it to the greenies, standing up for their rights to explore their great country as should be their right.

Having said that, is there any thing we can do here to fight for our rights as four wheel drivers. Years ago there were tracks all around Sydney and Australia. But a lot of them are gone Porters Lane, Jacksons Lane, Menai to name a few in Sydney. What can be done I hear you ask well for starters you could join the nine that are heading up to stockton on Febuary 2 http://www.sydneyjeepclub.com/showthread.php?3860-Stockton-beach-protest-run to protest the limited access to Stockton beach and the lock up of the Wattigans.
Remember if you don't fight you lose

Hey Wolfe, Im sure your comments above were directed in a general direction as im all ready booked with some Newy blokes heading up to the protest.
I just thought Jeepers would find the Johnson Valley stuff of interest as KOH is pretty well known.

In 1986-87, I did my desert training at Twenty Nine Palms. As much as I love my beloved Corps, they already have a HUGE area there to train in and there IS gobs of room north. Back then, there was NOTHING out there. Now, I understand there are a few retirees out there...keep the real estate guys out of the area north.

We as a group really should be taking page out of the US Book.
Yes they are currently fighting for Johnston Valley, but to me closer to home, our fight seems so less organised.
In all the years I've been involved in 4x4s I can only think of once where a rally has been organised - and yes naturally I am referring to the Stockon run.

I know some people might say who cares about the US - well IMHO firstly it's worth sign the petitions etc to help keep the trails we might want to enjoy (on holidays etc), but also so they might join our fight when asked. It's the same fight, but on another front.
