Yeah, we wanna come too but she needs some roids :highly_amused:and grow some legs firstly.. We might come along to take some photos & videos for the club. Just spectating & camping would be fun too.

I think that's a great idea for anyone who's car comes up a little short or doesn't want wheel that hard.

I have only ever seen videos of the area but i am sure there are trails that are a little tamer for the less modded jeeps.
if we do split up into groups I would be keen to come down
Don't think the TJ is up for A grade just yet

Looks like a weekend at Yalwal :)....... The tame tracks are everywhere;)......For those that want to venture down for an easy weekend Monkey gum is alot of fun as is the powerlines.... Kev and I have taken standard Lux's up this trial (with difficulty) so a standard jeep in the dry will get up there no problems (spotter required). Camping and chewing the fat around a camp fire is always a great way of finishing off the day.
There is also Casias FT which is great aswell. If there are two many of us I can always contact a few local mates to lead trips around the Nowra area...(obviously not in Jeeps)
Dont shy away from a great weekend... We can accommodate for all....
I could be up for this don't want to over push the kj just yet

two of the tracks have been wiped out... Wombat Steps and tree root
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZyGNaHeBYWc#!
I'll be doing some reccies over the the next few weeks to ensure the other tracks are still Open and challenging.
Since wombat camping ground is easy to get too Im thinking taking my pop top caravan in there instead of Coolendel.

Coolendel FAQs
Is there a shop at Coolendel?
Yes. We have a kiosk at the office which sells basic food and camping supplies such as ice, bread, milk, firewood, gas, and chocolate of course!
Does Coolendel have bathroom facilities?
Yes. Our amenities blocks have flush toilets and hot showers. We also have a laundry for hand washing, a baby change table, and facilities for the disabled.
Can we have an open camp fire?
Yes. Camp fires are allowed, except during a Total Fire Ban. Coolendel sells firewood…and marshmallows!
Do you have powered camp sites?
No. We do not have powered camp sites. But we proudly power our facilities with solar energy! We can provide electricity for special requirements (medical needs).
Should we make a booking for camping?
Yes please. Phone Coolendel on 02 4421 4586 to book. Advance payment is only required for Easter and October long weekends.
Can we reserve a camp site?
No. We do not have designated camp sites. First in, best dressed!
Can we bring our dog?
Sorry, no pets! Coolendel is a nature reserve with loads of native wildlife that we want to protect.
Will I be able to use my mobile phone?
Your mobile phone is not likely to work at Coolendel. We have a public phone that only accepts phone cards. You can buy these at our kiosk.
Are there noise restrictions?
Coolendel is a family camping destination. We ask that music is turned off and noise is kept to a minimum after 10.30pm so that everyone can enjoy their getaway. Motorbikes and generators are not allowed in the park.
Do I need a 4WD to get to Coolendel?
No. The road to Coolendel is suitable for any vehicle as long as you can deal with bends, bumps and a little dust. About 11kms of the road is unsurfaced, however that doesn’t stop our campers arriving in anything from a Mini Cooper to a bus. Just slow down and enjoy the scenery!
Sorry but looks like we have to stay home that week so can not attend
Jose. I'm in for camping but out for wheeling. Broke my leg and won't be out of cast by then :( bugger

I'd like to leave around lunch time Friday if possible at least by 2.30 at absolute outside. What if we aimed for sutherland maccas around 1.00 ?
GDay Wolfe,
We're happy with 1pm at SUTHERLAND. Barring any negative changes we'll be there for some ice cream after the long way down from The Hills. :joyous:
At present we plan to do some kayaking, fishing, videoing and offroading some C grade trails. I'll just video and take pics of everyone else tackling the A and Widow Maker stuff.
Steve B, time suitable 4 u ?

Who is meeting at Sutherland maccas at 1pm for the friday convoy ?
Just so we don't leave any one behind
They are expecting showers Friday and storms/wind/rain Saturday with max 22. Make sure you rug up and have wet weather gear
Who ever gets down there first should look at setting up as close to the large shelter as possible. Then we will have easy access if the weather turns.

All Good for Tomorrow .... yippee........
Rain is predicted until Sunday evening for the local area........... TREAD LIGHTLY folk's..............
Im out. Got to finish an urgent freelance job. Have a great time and look after the tracks.
Hey guys,
Planning on leaving sydney at 6am to be at Coolendel around 830. If its as predicted 300mm of rain on north coast arrives in sydney when im leaving I might wait the day out and come down on sat night and Sunday drive.
Ill send a text and post on the forum what unfolds..
Rhino
Yes. People are already there
Someone please post up directions from Nowra. Never been down that way before am leaving around lunch time if anyone is going tomorrow.
i have a book here with mapping you can borrow since your just around the corner
Went down for a Day trip....missed you at the camp, so I spent the afternoon pulling Toyota's out of the powerline track (6 of them)....would be good to go back when it is drier!
We had a play at Rydal-Mt Walker today.
Started out at around 10am leaving Castle Hill. Stopped by the corner bakery at Blackheath for some great Apple turnovers and a double espresso to get the day going. Then on the way to a lazy sightseeing drive to Lithgow, we passed by a rather large downed branch which blocked the street. Took out the mini chainsaw and had a SES style play. Got it cleared for traffic in 15 mins... What we do for fun.:hurt:
After all that, lunch at a wonderful place you guys prolly know about: Secret Creek Cafe... Bl00dy awesome tucker. Great spot to take the Missus / partner / girl / boy / friend to.
Then off to Rydal..brought back some fond memories of Jambo. The trails weren't very slippery and Coxs Creek was fine to cross. It's kinda nice to take offroading a wee bit slowly and solidify the learning at one's own pace. Great fun overall, interspersed with hair raising and heart pounding moments. She's only sporting 29" STTs.
Also met Kathy from Werribee Trail Rides. Wolfe, she can't get on the forum and asking for help to sort out her access please. If you could reset her account or call her, that would be fantastico. :encouragement:
Overniting at Jenolan Caves House for a Yerranderie, Bindook Highlands, Wombeyan Caves, Mittagong, The Oaks, Penrith, C Hill tomoz.
I'm sure you guys had fun @ Yalwal. Hope to read up on it soon.!!
p/s: raining all day here but nothing heavy. Alles Gut
Great time at Nowra. Plenty of rain but fun filled tracks. I came back late Saturday night as I needed to come home early .
The rain did not "dampen" hahah the enthusiasm. One of the better wheeling days I've had.
Only 5 groups, Stuart, Jose, Steve Boyd and Chris plus me came but great leading from Jose, especially loved Monkey Gum. Heaps of water but traction was remarkable good. At least my tent was dry even sitting in a lake....
Must do again
Steve
Yep great time, thanks Jose. It bucketted down last night but I was lucky enough to share Jose's camper trailer for a relatively dry night.
