Hi Jeepers,
Does anyone know any good places (price wise and service wise) that can fix/check out my rear diff?
It's for a 96 XJ.
Getting some whining in the rear and after looking up AJOR forums, it may be the pinion bearing but I'd prefer a diff specialist to check it out just to be sure.
Already getting new rubbers and new wheel bearings put in.
Tim Tam.
Try J-Mac Diff & Gear - John McDonald,
2/51 Holbeche Road,
Arndell Park 2148 (Blacktown, just off M4),
9671-5800.
Know's his work well, does it well, will quote for job and will point out any faults pending (if any). Can supply own parts if cheaper to do so........ Builds a few of the 4x4 Masters rig's......... Travel will be your down side...... Stephen........... Other's may point you somewhere closer to home...............

Coming off the M4 is ok, it's the operating hours I have to worry about.
Thanks Steve.
Give me a call tomorrow Tim Tam. I will help you sort it out.

Thanks for the suggestions gents. At this point (budget wise) i'm going to swap the diffs from the rear ended 95xj. It still works with no noise coming from it.
Will be working on getting the diff done,
snorkel, sliders, rubbers and service on the same day.
If anyone would like to come and help or after some odd spare parts from a 95 xj the offer is open :D
Having a small bbq that day with some drinks while working. no rush.
Oh and it's on the 19th before the 20th coxs bbq day.
In homebush. Will post details closer to date.
yeah i could probably help out and drink your beer :P

Ok gents. Details below.
G & S Automotive.
Unit 1
22-24 Richmond Rd,
Homebush.
Starting around 8-9am on the 19th.
Going to start with the Diff and rubbers for the rear. Then sliders and snorkel if time is plenty.
Rachel from the shitbox rally run for the cancer foundation will be there for a donated tow bar and bull bar coming from my wrecked xj.
Feel free to donate to their xj if anyone is willing.
Any other parts from my 95 XJ is basically free if anyone needs it before the whole thing goes to the scrap heap.
Also having a small bbq at around 11am with beers if anyone wants to join in.
What ever help I can get is much appreciated. :D
Tim Tam.

Thanks for all the info on this thread and the gents that came out today to help out.
Ray, Drew and Rachel from the Shit box rally run.
Only had the time to take out the rear diff and install it into the current jeep.
Couldn't get the sliders on in time or the snorkel.
Took out the front for Ray, took out the front bar for Rachel.
Engine is still there is anyone wants it...(It's free) :highly_amused:
PLUS. NO MORE WHINING!!! WOOHOO so nice not to hear it anymore.

I'd be keen on the engine, just not sure what I could do with the rest of the Jeep as I've got nowhere to put it, give me a day or two and I'll see if I can sort something though.
Cheers

Not a problem, I'll be at the BBQ tomorrow if your coming.
I've also thrown it into the AJOR website because it is currently a little smashed up and trying to get it off the premises.
My mechanic kinda punched some holes into with the forklift. (Engine is still fine)
It will need a crane or you could ask my mechanic to use his forklift to lift it. There are no diffs now in the xj lol.
cheers for th efront diff, the beer and the bbq.......... was a good day....... glad you got the rear in ok......
Are the rear springs any good?

Anytime AJ. It was a good day and the main thing was to get the diff sorted out. Good thing I bribed my mate to use his workshop. Would of been a pain for me to try this in a small garage.
Looks like I have a few offers for the engine :P
