I've discovered (the hard way!!) what I consider a design fault with the JK fuel tank bash plate.
For the unexpecting! Be aware when removing the bash plate retaining bolts(especialy after just refueling!!!)
The entire tank + contents are supported by forementioned bash plate!
Do I need to say anymore?
I'm just thankful I was standing in a servicing pit and not flat on my back at the time, and that a fella was walking past the pit to lend assistance.

lol - don't consider it a design flaw, but you really should be aware of the consequences of undoing any bolts on the underside of your vehicle :-)

Hi Andy,

My Bash plate is severely dented and a club member offered me a spare one he had.... I got under the Jeep tried to undo it and realized its not an easy job... So decided to stay with dented bash plate rather than to be crushed by the fuel tank or to break a hose, connector etc trying to undo the tank....

So no u r not alone....
