How do I remove the handbrake cable - 2000 model Jeep Grand Cherokee

I need to get to the handbrake cable to remove it [broken cable] Can anyone advise me how do I get the whole assembly out so I can fix up the cable. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

If its like mine. the cable runs under the centre of the vehicle and is comes out under the back seats. You'll need to lift the carpet to access it but also may need to get under the vehicle

Mine brake several years ago and all I needed was to change the cable from the lever to the seat exit point
