You were saying what about the weather Dave lol
Whats the ETA at Ourimbah do you think?
Whats the ETA at Ourimbah do you think?
Its well under an hour to the ourimbah interchange on the F3, so i would say we should be airing down ready to drive at 10.00am.
Are you thinking of meeting us up there? We can pull into the big circular parking area on the left of the north bound exit ramp if that suits.
I have to withdraw. Bugs that!
As parts wont arrive in time due to a .......cant repeat

Dave Just confirming the meeting spot
Do you mean the old weigh station on Pacific Highway where it joins the F3 at Berowa or do you mean the truck stop and reserve/boat ramp just over the bridge at Mooney Mooney ??

For those that haven't been it's a great spot with plenty of tracks all in close proximity. A great place for a day or half day :)

We did the steep track down and back up that runs down from Deadmans Trail, near the powerlines.
John ( near stock BlackTJ) and Bert(KJ) wisely decided to hitch a ride.
Had an early finish by doing a moderate trail to give the Ford Ranger (Stanman) a chance to stretch its legs.
I think Bert did some great driving today, ive never seen a KJ doing any rough stuff before, yes, quite capable.

How about a video have had a chance to edit it just stitched it together and uploaded it there is a few shaky spots sorry :)
Great day out, kids had a ball. These tracks are really showing the signs of the extra use with other tracks being closed and many that we did were closer to B grade.
Nice Vid, Dave.
Dontcha just luv that twitchy throttle response on my heep. NOT! (and ive got a sponge jammed under the throttle pedal as well)

I thought we were meant to take that line ;) Coils up front hide the wrong line and just make for cool pics, although lifting wheels does as well :)

That'd be great Greg! The short tracks are nameless anyway. If you could also send a copy to Scott Badman - the magazine editor, that would be cool.
Stanman just sent me a pm saying he will try and do one this weekend - watch this space
Dave
Just returning the favour dave :)
plus theres nothing like another 100 Kilos to get the wheel back on the ground....
I thought it was the latest hood ornaments for a cj

Ourimbah SF is a good easily accessible area with many short fun type tracks varying in grade from pleasant C's to at least one buttock clenching A grade track.
A bright sunny Sunday morning had everybody arriving promptly at the old Berowra weigh station by the side of the F3. A quick run up to the Ourimbah interchange saw us arrive at a gravelled area at Palmdale where we disconnected and aired down. Coops in his TJ joined us at this point.
We headed onto the main dirt access road and stopped at the first track on the right. This track doesn't give you much time to lock into the 4wd headspace because within 15 metres you have to drive a curved rutted slope. Not really hard but good wheel flex and a dash of confidence do help.
Next on the menu was a nice rocky track where correct wheel placement got the job done efficiently. We then drove back along it in the reverse direction, as it was such a fun little track. Bert-a demonstrated how capable his little KJ was negotiating the obstacles with confidence.
Continuing on we hooked a left and descended a bushy track to the foot of a longish rocky rutted and washed out track. Straddling the ruts or driving the less demanding track to the right brought us to the top of the hill were myself and Skizzi drove down and then back up a tricky little number with spotting duties from AussieCJ7 and Coops.
At this point the Family Guys had there leave passes cancelled so the remaining hardy four drivers headed off to do a steep trail further up under the powerlines. A good track this, steep, rocky and rutted, both up and down.
A final easy track so that Stanman could get the boots of his Ford Ranger mucky and then it was an early finish for the rest of us.
Great day with the SJC - must make it longer next time and have a crack at one or two of the toughies, weather permitting.
