A cousin is thinking of buying his first real 4wd, a second hand Jeep and came across this.
What do you guys think of this model? and what can you suggest as I know little of this model

I believe that diesel was an early version of the VM Motori engine, the same company that later made the KJ diesel (2.8L) and the JK diesel (2.8L but with a revised head and injectors to the KJ version). VM Motori is also tipped to be supplying the new diesel for the Grand Cherokee (V6 3.0L 500nm).

The Vm 2.5L was installed in the XJ from 1997-2001 2.5 L VM Motori (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VM_Motori) turbo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbocharger)diesel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_engine) I4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight-4) (sold in Europe, Australia and South America).

Fiat has bought into VM Motori and thus they are expected to continue supplying the CRD engines for some time to come.
