I ran across this on AJOR, seems Forest NSW has proclaimed a 60kmph speed limit on all gravel roads Maybe just within their jurisdiction but hard to tell.

Can't say I'm against this. People seem to forget that grip is significantly reduced on gravel/dirt compared to tarmac, and the dust created can significantly reduce visibility for others.

Really it's yet another case of having to cater for the lowest common denominator. Which is better than the alternative ie the complete closure of the roads!

Hey, I got pulled over once for doing 100 in a zone deemed as being 60 but I got away with things because the rule only applied in suburban areas and not rural areas - where the speed limit is 100 if there are NOT street light. Go and figure this rule, but it is still active today. No street lights - the speed limit is 100kM/h
