Appin Tracks Open?

Can anyone comment on the old tracks around Appin? Are they still open and accessible to anyone (or key required?). Anyone know?

Appin is one of those places you don't talk about. If you do go you don't post up about it and you don't post pix on the web site.

To answer your question yes people do drive there, but on the hush hush.

The guys on AJOR frequently run trips to that place we don't talk about, but then they don't have to answer to club committees, or the 4wd assoc.

Thanks Bear, Phil Reid has also given me a detailed account of his run in with the mine security people out there. I will forget about it, can't afford the fines.

End of last year, they erected thick steel wire rope and gates around the entry points to the tracks at Appin. Also signage stating that any unauthorised entry would result in Fines.
Before it was kinda a no go spot, as Bear mentioned but there were no signs or gates, so you could just play dumb.... but now there is no avoiding it. So I would definately say it's a NO go area now unfortunately :(
