Watagans Saturday 10 October - B grade, A grade section optional

Hi!

I saw response to the next Watagans trip. It looks that there are some people (same as me) who cannot make it weekdays. Therefore I suggest to do something similar on Saturday 10 October.

I do not know that well names of dirt roads and fire trails but I have been in Watagans many times on my dirt bike as well as by Jeep.

My proposal:

- meet at 9AM at McDonalds at Tugg.
- continue via Wyong to Forrest Rd.
- stop at the second power lines, than assess and perhaps try A-grade hill on the left side
- and/or turn right via my favourite B-grade down to the valley and up to the other side of Watagans.
- There are several alternative ways back either by sealed road back to freeway to Sydney or via Watagans back to Wyong. We could decide there which one take back.

There is always some mud in the valley (we learned hard way to avoid the first big mud hole unless at least 35'' tires and 4"+lift) and nice climb on the other side. I have done this few times before lifting my Rubi (+on my KTM before). My friends without dif locks struggled a bit on steepest rocky climb on the other side of the valley and needed quick pull by winch.

The A grade I mentioned above is just optional. I would not even think about going down A-grade, however, there is an alternative easy way down, about 50-70m before power lines on the left side. It goes down (about 100m) under the hill where it connects right to A-grade power line "road". It starts by a short decline and than steep A-grade climb back to Forrest Rd. It is already some time since I looked at this part, not sure if it is not beyond A-grade.

P.S. By the way, had really good time in Mt.Walker on Monday - weather was good, but tracks wet, so after few attempts we had to give up middle of "three sisters" (top section was OK, for people who know the track)

Hi all!

It looks that weather should be good tomorrow. However, it was rainy so do not forget recovery equipment! It may be useful. :-)

Stefan, if you come from Sydney use Wyong exit, than turn right (in Wyong direction) and continue straight through several roundabouts till Wyong sign points left from (I believe 3rd) roundabout. Turn left you will see McD sign after about 100m on the left, turn left and you are there.

who knows? We were kinda just trying out tracks as we past them ;D Maybe Martin has a better idea as he was keeping track on his GPS......well most of the time anyway :D
