Just finished building my KJ rear storage system. The twin drawers are 500mm deep and slide out 500mm on 45kg rated drawer slides. The unit is attached to the existing KJ tie down points by 100kg cam lock straps. Unit weighs 23kg all up.

Anyone with a KJ who is interested in either building one themselves (via my plans) or getting me to custom build one for you, just contact me via PM here. I'm not getting rich out of this, I'm semi-retired and this is a hobby.

Very neat and cool. What material is made from?

The panels are all marine ply, and they are bonded together using Epoxy Stitch and Glue boat building techniques (which is why all the internal corners are radiused with epoxy glue fillets). The external seams are all fiberglassed taped with epoxy resin. The technique provides a monocoque structure with no framing, which is strong and lighter than any framed alternative. The drawers are internally waterproofed with epoxy resin (you could use them for wet lockers), and the top deck is also fully water proofed under the carpet (which is marine UV resist). Hope that explains it.

That looks cool glend, nice design!!! The Epoxy-Resin, looks alot like High gloss Polyurethane, but i know why you used Epoxy.
The fully extendable ball bearing runners are a good idea too!!!

Nice wook. :)

I have a 2007 KJ and am trying to get it ready for a tour. Storage is an issue and this looks great. I would love to talk to you. Bruce
