Menai Clean-up Sun.26/07/09

For those wanting to attend;-
Meet - @ Gate No.6 on Heathcote Road Menai,
Time - 8.30a.m., Sign-in by 9.00a.m,
Bring/Wear decent shoes/boots, gloves, have own recovery gear, at least 1 recovery point Front or Rear, CB, food/drink of choice, camera/video.
Participation at a Menai clean-up will give you 12 months access rights to use the tracks at Menai on "official" club runs held there. Post up if you intend to be there.

Just got back from the week skiing, so i've used up all my brownie points. Plus neither jeeps are operational at present so sorry i'm out. P.S. the snow was sensational......24cm in 24hours

Well that was another enjoyable trip tp Menai yesterday - just a pity it was cold and overcast with rain later in the day, after the glorious sun for a few days before and again today. I got frozen on the way there and soaked on the way back, but I still love driving the flatfender. It was good to meet some more new faces and with eight Jeeps there we had a good selection of models. As usual Steve T took us on some varied tracks with some good climbs and drop-offs and plenty of mud in places. I ended up with a battery problem when I left the engine idling for 10 minutes or so but it stopped running, and with the thermo fan churning away there was no life left when I tried to restart. Thanks Mani for coming to the rescue with jumper leads, and later to Dave for the tow start. Now - where is the hose pipe, to try and wash some of the mud off

I just cudnt imagine there can be such gr8 tracks less than an hour from my home. Great experience. Thanks Steve for the excellent trip. Thanks Bear for lending me ur Radio. Thanks to the rest of the team for a fun and entertaining day out. I made it out almost in one piece just a few dents on the bash plates, a squished tail pipe, and a missing number plate. And yes a warning for all JK owners with stock front bumpers if you r relying on the self tappers to hold ur number plates please get something more reliable. I and Veronica both lost our front plates in the same bog hole. I will talk to my jeep guy when i take it in for servicing next week. So i have a bash plate to undent, a tail pipe to chop off and a more reliable mount to make for the front plate when i get it in the next three weeks.

It was a great day .. we had the company of a new member Karel and his lovely wife CJ and CJ was thrown in the deep end and did very well to get up a climb which saw Mani give us a view of his underside while on two wheels.
The funny side was Steve T holding him down!!!!!!I had just put my camera in the car because it was raining but I think Veronica got a picture and hopefully she will send it to Bec for the magazine.

Hey Guys

The weekend was a blast, got my TJ put through its paces. (Thanx Steve for making me realise my car's potential, at the cost of my clean pants :o). The wife enjoyed a bit of the challenge too, thanx again Steve for talking here through it.

Can't wait for our next outing!!!

I'll be spending a bit of time with the Video clips we took to see if I can turn them into some action shots, I will post these with the existing gallery I've created. Let me know if anyone's got photos to contribute.
