Wow this thread is so old the pictures have dissapeared

Specs:

1983 CJ7
Engine conversion: 4.0L from a 95 XJ (was a 151cu 4cyl)
Gearbox Conversion AW4 auto from same 95 XJ (was a T5 manual)
Axles: D30 front and AMC20 rear
Suspension: Rubicon Express 4.5"
Brakes: XJ booster and MC (was non boosted)
Power Steer conversion using J20 steering box and XJ Pump
Flaming River steering shaft ( great mod to remove steering slop)
D300 Transfer case clocked up using Novak clocking ring
Dick Cept DC-1 bling wheels
285/75R16 MTR's (33" x 11)
flat skid plate an custom transmission cross member ( gained about 4" of clearance)
Xennon Flares
AutoTechnic's seats
Lots of little stuff to make the rest work !!!

Acquired a pair of D44's ready to be rebuilt and installed. Now just to keep the project budget in place this time ???

off was easy a A-frame and chain block and tackle make all the difference but getting them on damn they are heavy

time to start acquiring parts, need lockers, R&P, brakes seals bearing etc aka complete rebuild

yes we should have taken the engine hoist with us
just didn't realise they came with wheels,tyres and springs
they sure did make them strong back then
unlike the crap they pass off for a dana 44 these days

Try a 44/60 with tyres into a caged 7x4 trailer! Not exactly easy nor quiet in the middle of the night!

How do you get the leaf spring eyes through the slots, that I assume are for the leaf pack, on the truss? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here :)

If it is spring over then I'm sure the truss only extends to the leaf spring perches and not to the axle flange.

Yeah the spring perchs are not yet the slots are for the u-bolts will be SUA the perches will go on when we install under the jeep so we can get the centering and spacing dead right to the jeep rather than the measurement of from factory too many variables in the manufacture of old jeeps

its still in primer here yet to be sanded so safety yellow is not the future color :P

Yeah I am betting first time off road I end up driving by braille and give it a love tap on a rock that I never use to hit but the fun police should hate it a little less
