Anyone up for a trip to Watagans on June 15?
I've got NO idea where the good tracks are up there btw.. so if anyone who has a clue wants to come that would be sweet - otherwise we'll just pack the Indiana Jones gear and go on an exploration trip :)

When: Sunday June 15 - 09:00am
Where: The meeting point for this trip is the rest area at the Ourimbah exit off the Freeway
(It's the next exit after the 2nd Peats Ridge Road exit)
I’ve made a map of the way to the meeting point on Google Maps here: http://tinyurl.com/5ba7zh
Bring: Decent shoes/boots, gloves, have own recovery gear, food & drink of choice, camera.
Grade: B+ (It's going to be a bit slippery after all the rain out there, going to need at least AT tyres)
Who's coming?
*************
Casey & Rebecca
Vinnie
George & his really cool friend who has an Unlimited Rubicon

danials Rd is a popular track and one we have done before. Heard a recent report though that it is VERY rutted and the bog holes aere impassable for rigs with less than 33's. I'd offer to come but can't be there on Sunday. Plus my jeep needs some attention.
would like to, however at the track on the bikes this Saturday... see how i fair up night before..
:-\ No good for us.
We're up at Noosa at the moment with intentions of heading further up and in!
Have a good trip.

What grade tracks are you thinking about here?
The first (and only) time we went to Watagans, the tracks were getting up to B+ grade. It was pretty wet and slippery out there but got through okay on 32" AT tyres. - only got stuck once when I was doing a 3-point turn on a track and managed to belly the Jeep between the ruts in the track :P

Sorry Casey, unfortunately family commitments prevent us joining your trip.
Maggie and Reg.
This trip was great fun, we didn't get to go to the Wattagans as planned, as Phil had spent the previous day checking out the tracks, and found that they were too muddy - he got bogged for 3 hours on one of the access roads.
So instead we checked out a little bit of Ourimbah State Forest and Morriset. Finding some new and interesting places - like the abandoned Morisset Hospital for the Criminally Insane, a great little spot to have lunch, hehe ;).
We had a few new faces with us on the day, and there was a new Jeep too! George's mate Michael had just gotten a new JK (an Unlimited Rubicon in Rescue Green) and Phil's mate Kieth was in a Patrol.
With all the rain lately, I was doubting my ability to be able to get through some of the tracks and was sure I was going to be giving the new winch a work out. Especially on the first muddy hill climb of the day that had already beaten George and Ian, both with a few inches of lift and 35" mud tyres - Ian had lockers too. I was pretty shocked at just how capable the stock Rubicon is with 32" AT tyres and a set of lockers when I was the first one to make it up the hill - on the first attempt! I did get some wheels in the air and also made good use of the rock rails (that was quite a loud bump wasn't it?).
Vinnie was next up and he got through it on the second attempt (complete with a bit of "wheels in the air" action). Kieth in the Patrol nearly made it - Vinnie snatched him up the last little bit to the top of the hill.
There was loads of powerline tracks to try out and there were a few really tight sections (eek! scratches on the new JK's!) and we saw a paddock of kangaroos that were eerily standing around staring at us like a scene from the "Village of the Damned". We finished up at about 3.30pm - no breakages, no damage, just lots of fun :)
Massive thanks to Phil and Kieth for showing us around on the day, couldn't have done it without you guys :)
I will post some photos tonight, if anyone else has some pics please post them up too :)

Hi all,
Thanks for coming along yesterday guys and my apologies for not getting you into the Watagan's, we helped save it from being cut up that bit more yesterday though which is good!
You're most welcome for being shown around, I look forward to getting out for a play again soon!! ;D

Whats the sticker writing on the back windows casey?
they're some custom stickers we got made up :)
from memory it says:
SJC#169
JK-2007
0-6_COL <-this is the ranking for Colonel
UHFCH15
REBECCA
CASEY_G
the one on the back has the same and sydneyjeepclub.com written on the top
the two logos are the SJC club logo and the low-vis RAAF roundel
(gave them a torn/weathered look to match the font we used)
Hi everyone,
We had a great day out again on Sunday.
Thank you all for welcoming uncle Michael with his new Rubi unlimited to the clan.
We will definitely be out again next trip.
Great pics Casey, Vinnie and Phil.
Thanks showing us around Phil.
Will keep in touch.
Till next time my fellow jeep freaks...

Thinking of going up to explore, did you guys have a map or just went up and tryed any track in the area?
We had some help from Phil from OzAdventure4x4.
Azasjeep lives near there now, he should know a few good tracks.
Wattagans was discussed at the meeting last night and I think Steve T is keen to lead a trip up there on Sunday 15th March.
Contact Steve T for details
